The end of round one.
June´s group was a mixed bag. Still dont know how i feel about some of those who came along for the ride but i can say that they were not bad people. Some were a bit to sensative for there own good, letting the little things pick at them to the point where they would explode in fustration. I did have fun most of the time but more with the towns people of Padilla at least at first. Some of the group i will say finally opened up the last few days and the tension that was felt at the start faded away quickly. I will miss them though Padilla is boring at the moment but the next group arrives on Friday which has me excited to see what will happen next. June´s group did find four tombs. Some in better conditions than others but tomb 225 did have a really nice beer/wine jug that was complete. I really wish that july 2009 was here to experiance all this with me again. Untill next time this is El Cubano saying goodbye.

Week One
So far things have started off slowly with this new crew and group of students. They get so many more luxuries that were nonexistant the previous year. The group itself has not messed itself into a happy one there are many doubters and whiners that do not want to do the work they signed up for but i think this will all change when they reach the prize at the end of the road. Today has been really cold in Padilla del Duero and raining nonstop cleaned some metal fragments in the moring in the lab and in the after attempted to excavate the catas which did not turn out so bad. Already at the sand level in certain parts of our cata(sector), and have found some entire pots that were in secondary position which is extremly exciting. Monday night one of the students had a little bit to much to drink and on our walk towards the bleachers by Las Ruedas she fell into the Bog of Eternal Stench, everyone here will not let her live that down ever. I´ll try to post a little more often since the center now has internet.

Weekend in Madrid
I arrived in Madrid on the 29th of may get lagged like i have never been i pretty much died when i arrived at my friends apartment untill much later at night where we went out to a near by plaza had some drinks then ate some jamon y patatas bravas which were exteremly amazing. One of the many reasons i am happy to be back in spain the food is like no other place i have been to. Everything is fresh ans seasonal. Sunday went to a barbque which was a pretty great experiance i had no idea there were actual houses in Madrid it had a nice little back yard down stairs and a very nice terrace upstairs we gorged ourselves on all types of meat. I felt a little outof place due to the age diffrence i easily was 10 years younger than everyone in attendence, but everyone was incrediblely nice and outgoing so that feeling left quickly. Today monday had my oreintation for the dig which starts tomorrow i finally meet Theo which is going to be helping out also on the dig. Now its just time for me to rest up and get ready for the next 3 months. My next posting will not be untill next monday so untill then this is me saying ill keep you updated soon and bye.

I am Leaving on a Journey.
I am creating this blog to write down my thoughts and experiences while i am abroad. I was hired by a nonprofit outfit to help run an archeaological dig in the north of Spain. I will probably only be able to update this about once a week but i am hoping it will give whom ever is reading a little incite on what the life of an archeologist is like. The adventure begins on the 1st of June so stay tuned for more updates.
